We always have such a great time when we get together and pictures do say it all. I do look forward to our next adventure and it will not be too far away. Rest up from an excellent race. You continue to get stronger and stronger.Rick Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00067293157750460416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760039003429981590.post-50466458532488393832010-11-15T12:09:49.473-08:002010-11-15T12:09:49.473-08:00AMEN Eustace and Beth... As I told you Beth (I think), when my late father-in-law was reading the book, he came over every morning for coffee and told me about what he read the night before. I have "The Last American Man" on my bookshelf somewhere. Since I did live in a teepee for a time, I'll have to find that wonderful book and "re-read" it (will also help me remember my father-in-laws love for books and storytelling!)
-RobRob Frenchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11757386192673580949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760039003429981590.post-23495077018171424202010-11-15T12:06:03.462-08:002010-11-15T12:06:03.462-08:00Beth,
I read that book a few years ago. It's ...Beth,
I read that book a few years ago. It's a great book and it kind of makes you think - maybe even a bit too much about the complexities of the modern world (at least it did me). I agree with much of what Conway says in the book, but it troubles me how hard it is to put his philosophy into action in our culture. I found it interesting that in the end, he too had to "sell out" to a certain extent to buy the land he wanted and ultimately became nearly as attached to cultural sillyness like insurance et al like the rest of the world to make sure he didn't lose it all if he got sick/sued. I think you're right in saying that running frees you from the boxes of life - if only temporary. We're all trying to swim upstream in a downstream world.
Good stuff!
- AdamCassedayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06903493546022429763noreply@blogger.com
